Rodeo Grounds Pump Station
The Rodeo Grounds Pumping Station is a critical component of the CCSD's water infrastructure and a link between the lowest water pressure zone and all the remaining pressure zones in Cambria. It will replace the existing pump station at the CCSD water yard at the end of Rodeo Grounds Road. When complete, it will provide routine daily pumping operations and better fire protection to Lodge Hill, Park Hill, Upper Pine Knolls, and as a main supply to the Leimert Tank. The total estimated cost for this project is $2.26 million and is scheduled for completion by 2012.
The existing pump station was most likely installed in the 1950s. It is also in a flood zone and a potential Tsunami inundation area. The main electrical controls and switchgear are beyond their useful life and are located in the same room as the pumps and exposed piping. Modern pumping station designs separate the high voltage switchgear from the pumping and piping systems as a safety measure. The new station will have a separate control room and will include more energy efficient pumps and motors. |
