May 13, 2021 Issue Request for Proposal (RFP)

The Cambria Fire Department is conducting the annual Fire Hazard Fuel Reduction Program for homeowners and businesses. On April 15, 2021, the Board of Directors adopted Resolution 10-2021 declaring a public nuisance, as defined in the Health & Safety Code, for the annual Fire Hazard Fuel Reduction Program. On April 16, 2021, the Notice to Destroy Weeds were mailed to property owners whose properties require abatement.

This annual requirement is an effort to reduce the fire hazard caused by the accumulation of combustible materials on vacant parcels. Reducing flammable vegetation on your property is the single most important thing you can do to prevent a wildland fire in Cambria. Keep in mind that the forest helps define Cambria and it is important that we reduce the fire hazard without destroying its ability to regenerate. Make every effort to protect seedlings, young native trees, ferns and bushes by marking them prior to cutting.

On May 13, 2021, a Request for Proposal (“RFP”) was issued seeking proposals from contractors to abate and remove the fuels and vegetation and the RFP deadline was June 3, 2021 at 12:00 p.m.
