9/11 Message from the General Manager

As we mark another year since the tragic events of September 11, 2001, we remember and honor the souls we lost on that fateful day with a heavy heart and deep reverence. The images of that morning remain seared in our collective memory: the smoke billowing from the Twin Towers, the Pentagon in flames, and the quiet field in Pennsylvania. Behind these harrowing scenes were fathers, mothers, siblings, partners, friends, colleagues, and heroes whose dreams, hopes, and futures were cruelly taken away. Each life lost was a story cut short, a voice silenced too soon.

We remember the firefighters, police officers, first responders, and ordinary citizens who showcased extraordinary courage and selflessness in the face of unparalleled danger. Their bravery—rushing into crumbling buildings, helping strangers, and making the ultimate sacrifice—testify to the indomitable human spirit and the strength of our nation's character. These heroes illuminated the darkest days with their unwavering commitment to protect and serve. On this solemn anniversary, let us also recognize the families and friends left behind whose lives were forever altered. Their pain, resilience, and dedication to ensuring that their loved ones are never forgotten inspire us to unite as a community and a nation.

While the scars of 9/11 may never fully heal, we must ensure that the legacy of those we lost is one of unity, hope, and determination. We can honor their memories by remembering their stories, celebrating their lives, and striving for a world built on peace and understanding. Today, and always, let us stand united in our remembrance. Let us cherish the freedoms we hold dear and work together for a future free from fear. For in our unity and determination, the spirit of those we lost on 9/11 lives on, reminding us of the strength and resilience that define us as a people and a nation.

With deepest respect,

Matthew McElhenie
