MCE members shall be eligible for a temporary leave of absence without loss of salary, upon the death of any member of the immediate family. Such leave is available for each incident and shall be limited to 3 days (24 hours), where the death and service are within the State of California, and up to five days (40 hours) where the death or service is outside the State. If bereavement leave has been exhausted, a covered employee may elect to use other paid leave including sick leave, if necessary, for this purpose. “Immediate family member” is defined below and by law. The employee shall include their familial relationship to the deceased on their Personnel Action Form.
