Cambria Community Services District WEED ABATEMENT REQUIREMENTS Ordinance No. 01-2025

Protect Your Property. Protect Your Neighborhood.

WHY THIS MATTERS
Cambria is located in a high-risk wildfire zone. To reduce the threat of wildfire and keep our community safe, the CCSD has adopted enforceable weed abatement standards. All property owners—residential, commercial, and public—must comply.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
✔ Cut and remove dry grass, weeds, and brush
✔ Trim and space out plants to prevent fire spread
✔ Remove dead or dying trees and branches
✔ Clear 50 feet from roads and property lines
✔ Clear 10 feet on both sides of driveways
✔ Do not store flammable materials near structures

These actions are required under the California Fire Code, Chapter 49.

WHAT COUNTS AS A FIRE HAZARD?
🌿 Overgrown weeds and brush
🌲 Trees with low moisture or lots of deadwood
🌾 Poison oak and invasive plants
🔥 Piles of dried vegetation or wood debris

ARE THERE EXEMPTIONS?
Yes. Some lands may qualify, including:

  • Livestock pastures or harvested fields
  • Endangered species habitat
  • Natural wildlife areas
  • Environmentally sensitive open space

👉 To request an exemption, contact the Fire Chief 30 days before the weed abatement deadline.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DON’T COMPLY? 🚫 Declared a public nuisance
💵 Civil citations & administrative abatement
📜 Costs and liens may be recorded against your property
