Press ReleaseCambria CSD Awarded $935,000 in Federal Funding for Fire Apparatus Replacement Project
Cambria, CA — The Cambria Community Services District (CCSD) is pleased to announce that the Cambria CSD Fire Apparatus Replacement Project has secured $935,000 in federal Community Project Funding (CPF), included in this week’s federal appropriations bill.
In May 2025, CCSD received official notification from the Office of Representative Jimmy Panetta that the project had been selected for consideration in the Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations cycle and submitted to the Appropriations Committee, marking the first step in the federal funding process. Final approval was anticipated later in the year, and this week’s passage of the appropriations bill confirms full federal funding for the project. The CPF award will support the replacement of aging fire apparatus critical to the Cambria Fire Department’s emergency response capabilities. As with most CPF awards, funding will be provided through a reimbursement process, requiring the district to complete eligible project activities before federal reimbursement is issued.
Representative Panetta’s office will meet with CCSD leadership next week to discuss project details and next steps, and will continue coordinating with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to ensure successful delivery of the funding.
“We are extremely grateful for Congressman Panetta and congressional aide Diane Zannotti for their continued support of Cambria and their commitment to strengthening public safety in our community,” said Matthew McElhenie, CCSD General Manager.
“We are incredibly proud of our management staff, whose dedication, expertise, and countless hours of work made this grant application possible. Their tireless efforts behind the scenes ensured every detail was addressed and demonstrated their commitment to our community’s success. We also thank the Cambria Fire Safe Focus Group and the North Coast Advisory Council for providing letters of support, as well as our many community partners whose contributions make these accomplishments possible. We will continue to keep the community informed as these projects progress and as we pursue additional opportunities to enhance Cambria.”
CCSD will provide ongoing updates to the community as the project progresses and coordination with federal partners continues.
