Forest Health Work at Fiscalini Ranch Preserve Begins 9/1/2026
Forest health improvement work at Fiscalini Ranch Preserve will begin on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 7:00 a.m. The work is part of planned forest health treatments designed to improve the health and fire resilience of the Monterey pine forest. Crews will be thinning understory vegetation and treating dead, dying, and diseased trees while retaining healthy trees and important habitat features.
Work will be performed by hand crews and tracked chippers. Residents and visitors may hear chainsaws, chipping equipment, and other work-related noise while crews are working. Equipment may use existing roads and trails to access treatment areas.
For safety, please follow any posted signs, trail closures, or directions from crews and avoid entering active work areas.
The project includes measures to protect wildlife and habitat, including retention of healthy Monterey pines and oaks and specific protections for monarch overwintering habitat and other sensitive wildlife.
