Press ReleaseIMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT CAMBRIA’S DRINKING WATER: BOIL WATER NOTICEWATER SERVICE INTERRUPTION AND BOIL WATER NOTICE FOR PORTIONS OF LODGE HILL AND RURAL ROUTE 1
On the morning of September 12, an equipment failure at the Stuart Street Tank prevented the tank from refilling. As a result, the tank eventually emptied, leading to a loss of water system pressure. Customers began reporting low or no water pressure in the early morning hours of September 12.
Water system staff responded immediately once the issue was identified, working to refill the Stuart Street Tank and restore system pressure. As a precaution, a boil water notice has been issued for all customers in Pressure Zone 2, which includes a large portion of Lodge Hill on both sides of Highway 1 and Rural Route 1.
Within the next two hours, bottled water will be available for affected customers at the Cambria Veterans’ Memorial Hall, 1000 Main Street, Cambria, CA 93428.
Information about the boil water notice, including a map of the affected areas, is available on the CCSD website at: https://www.cambriacsd.org/boil-water-notice.
Staff are flushing the water system through fire hydrants to help restore water quality. No further issues are anticipated at this time, and the District is awaiting laboratory sample results to confirm when the boil water notice can be safely lifted.
San Luis Obispo County Office of Emergency Services (OES) will be providing a more accurate system for residential customers to look up their service location and determine whether they are within an affected area. This tool will improve communication and help residents quickly verify if boil water notices or other advisories apply to their property.
The CCSD will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.
