Storm Update from the Water & Wastewater Departments

The Water & Wastewater Department Superintendents are continuing to take steps to ensure that the onsite facilities are equipped with the necessary staff and resources. 

Wastewater Operations

  • 9:00 a.m.: Wastewater plant influent flow began to reach 1,300 gallons per minute (GPM).
  • 11:00 a.m.: Second on-call operator called to assist in response to PG&E power outage.
  • 11:00 a.m.: Lift Station backup power generators are engaged at each critical site.
  • 3:00 p.m.: Influent flows have reduced from earlier, but surge flows are occurring when storm events swell.

Water operations

  • 9:00 a.m.: High creek flow near San Simeon Well Field.
  • 11:00 a.m.: All backup power is being utilized at the Booster Station and Well Field sites in response to the power outage.
  • 3:00 p.m.: Potable storage tanks have been filled to maximum storage.
  • 3:30 p.m.: Well Field operations cease until further consumption is necessitated.
