3/31/2026 Letter from the General Manager
Dear Cambrians,
Cambria Evacuation Preparation Event
On April 18, Cambria is taking a meaningful step toward becoming a more prepared and resilient community. The Cambria Community Services District (CCSD), in partnership with the Cambria Fire Department and the Neighborhood Liaison Program, will host a Community Emergency Preparedness Event on April 18, 2026, at Veterans Hall. When an evacuation order is issued, there’s no time to figure out what to take or where to go. Those decisions need to be made in advance. This event is designed to help residents move from “almost ready” to fully prepared, with clear, practical steps they can rely on in an emergency.
We’re pleased to welcome Mike Ketaily of Ketaily Technical Consulting, who brings 30 years of experience with the Los Angeles City Fire Department. He has responded to major incidents including the 1994 Northridge Earthquake and large-scale wildfire evacuations across Southern California. His presentation will focus on practical planning—when to leave, how to leave, and what to bring—so residents can act quickly and confidently when it matters.
The CCSD will also provide complimentary starter go bags to attendees while supplies last, helping residents leave with both information and essential tools. The event will include hands-on workshops and ongoing CPR training to give participants real, usable skills.
Join Cambria Fire, the Cambria CSD Neighborhood Liaisons, and Ketaily Technical Consulting to learn how to build a go bag, plan evacuation routes, and prepare your household.

Coastal Development Permit for the Water Reclamation Facility (WRF)
After more than a decade of studies, environmental review, engineering refinement, regulatory coordination, and sustained commitment, the Planning Commission unanimously approved the Coastal Development Permit for the Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) on February 26, 2026.
Following that approval, the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors received six appeals of the permit. The matter is now scheduled for consideration on the Board of Supervisors’ June 16, 2026 agenda. As additional information becomes available, it will be shared with the community.
Administrative & Finance Departments
Submit a Public Records Request
The Cambria Community Services District (CCSD) is committed to transparency and providing the public with access to government records. Community members can easily submit requests for public records through our online form.
Under the California Public Records Act, members of the public have the right to request access to identifiable records maintained by government agencies. The Act is designed to provide access to existing documents and records held by the District.
If you are seeking records maintained by CCSD, please submit your request using our online form:
https://www.cambriacsd.org/public-records-request
Once a request is received, the District will respond within 10 days to determine whether the requested records are disclosable and in the District’s possession. In certain circumstances, the response period may be extended with written notice explaining the reason for the delay.
Important Reminders
- Requests must be for identifiable existing records or documents.
- The Public Records Act does not require agencies to answer questions or conduct research.
- Providing clear details about the records you are requesting will help staff process your request efficiently.
We encourage residents and interested parties to use the online form to ensure requests are received and processed as efficiently as possible.

Veterans' Memorial Hall Roof Replacement
On February 24, 2026, the contractor completed the replacement of a section of the roof at the Veterans’ Memorial Hall, specifically over the kitchen and dining room areas.

Veterans' Memorial Hall Interior Renovations
Facilities & Resources Department staff have completed the installation of shiplap and collaborated with vendors to finalize the painting and flooring renovations at the Veterans’ Memorial Hall. The Cambria Community Services District extends its sincere appreciation to the Cambria Local Advisory Board and Highway 1 Tourism Alliance Inc for their generous support through a Cambria Local Area Grant.
This meaningful investment helped fund essential paint, kitchen, and flooring improvements that enhanced the functionality, safety, and appearance of the Veterans’ Hall. CCSD is deeply grateful for this partnership and the shared commitment to preserving an important community gathering place that serves residents, local organizations, and visitors alike. Their continued support plays a vital role in strengthening community spaces and enriching the overall Cambria experience.
Cambria Skatepark Update
The District has made significant progress on the skate park project. All required engineering components have now been completed, and design revisions addressing County requirements have been finalized. The updated plans for the skate park features have been formally submitted to the County of San Luis Obispo and are currently under review for final permitting. In parallel, staff is developing the Request for Proposals based on these finalized plans to ensure alignment between the approved design and construction specifications. We anticipate releasing the project for competitive bidding within the next four weeks, assuming no further substantive revisions are required during the County’s final review process.
Cambria Fire Department
Defensible space is crucial for your home’s wildfire safety. It’s the buffer zone you create between your property and the surrounding wildland area. This space is key to slowing or stopping wildfire spread and protecting your home from embers, flames, or heat. It also gives firefighters a safer area to defend your property.
