The Cambria CSD Fire Department strongly encourages Cambria residents to start preparing now for the next wave of storms, expected to hit on Friday. While this storm is expected to bring less rainfall than we experienced this week (1-2 inches possible), current ground saturation and storm damage leaves Cambria extremely vulnerable. 

The sandbag location at the dog park/rodeo grounds has been refilled for the community’s use. Remember to bring your own shovel and bags. 

Cambria has officially made it through this recent extreme weather event with zero storm related injuries or deaths, due to the community’s safety awareness and responsible decision making. Additionally, special recognition should be given to all first responders, which stepped up to mitigate the dangers posed by this extreme weather event.

Windsor Blvd has reopened and the Emergency Access Road across the ranch has been closed. Please drive carefully as flood waters may return. Cambria CSD Fire Department will be monitoring through the night as we are still in a flash flood warning. 

Cambria and the County of San Luis Obispo is under a flash flood warning from the National Weather Service. There is localized flooding throughout Cambria which may get worse.

Cambria is currently battling localized flooding in different parts of the community. Please do not become part of the problem, diverting limited resources to rescue you, by trying to drive or wade through flooded areas. This brief inconvenience shall pass!!! Help us, help you!

The Santa Rosa Creek crested its banks and has begun to overflow the bridge at Windsor Blvd, at the entrance to Park Hill in Cambria. San Luis Obispo County Roads has been notified and Windsor Blvd has been shut down to all traffic until further notice.

Today at 2pm, the Cambria CSD Fire Chief attended the San Luis Obispo County Operational Area Storm Coordination Group conference call, on behalf of the Cambria CSD and all Cambrians. At around 10:00 am this morning, an extremely large rogue wave struck a residence along Sherwood Drive, causing damage to the property and minor injuries to the occupant of the room. The homes waterfront windows were shattered and the resident was knocked over by the powerful wave. The water damage extended throughout the home.

At at 2:15 pm, the Cambria CSD Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a vehicle accident near 6530 Moonstone Beach Drive. Cambria CSD Fire Department Medic Engine 5792 and Chief 5700 responded with Cal Fire also responding mutual aid to assist. Cambria CSD Fire Department would like to remind all Cambrians and visitors to be mindful during the current weather events. Cambria is forecasted to receive heavy rain and sustained winds, potentially causing localized flooding of some roadways as well as downed trees and power lines. Remember to never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway and to stay away from downed power lines.
