Cambria CSD Awarded $935,000 in Federal Funding for Fire Apparatus Replacement Project
The CCSD recently announced that the Cambria CSD Fire Apparatus Replacement Project has secured $935,000 in federal Community Project Funding (CPF), included in this week’s federal appropriations bill.
In May 2025, CCSD received official notification from the Office of Representative Jimmy Panetta that the project had been selected for consideration in the Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations cycle and submitted to the Appropriations Committee, marking the first step in the federal funding process. Final approval was anticipated later in the year, and this week’s passage of the appropriations bill confirms full federal funding for the project.
The CPF award will support the replacement of aging fire apparatus critical to the Cambria Fire Department’s emergency response capabilities. As with most CPF awards, funding will be provided through a reimbursement process, requiring the district to complete eligible project activities before federal reimbursement is issued.
Additionally, over the last three years, the District has successfully secured several additional grants and funding sources totaling $2,045,500, including:
- New Skatepark Facility Grant – $600,000 through the Land & Water Conservation Fund
- Skatepark Restroom Grant – $47,500 from the Cambria Tourism Board
- Veterans Hall Renovation Grant – $60,000 from the Cambria Tourism Board
- Stuart St Tank Replacement EPA Grant – $375,000 from the EPA
- EV Charging Station Grant – $20,000 from the Air Pollution Control District (APCD)
- EV Charging Station Incentive – $8,000 from PG&E
These achievements are a testament to the dedication, expertise, and tireless efforts of our District staff. Their creativity, professionalism, and commitment to serving the Cambria community have allowed us to secure critical funding that enhances our public facilities, improves infrastructure, and strengthens community resources. The staff’s teamwork, problem-solving skills, and proactive approach make these successes possible and demonstrate the extraordinary talent and passion within our organization.

EyeOnWater Portal for Cambria Residents
Track your water use. Catch leaks early. Save money. Help conserve.
The Cambria Community Services District (CCSD) has launched EyeOnWater, a free, easy-to-use digital platform that allows customers to monitor their water use in near real-time. This tool is part of our Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system, a smart technology that securely and accurately sends water usage data directly from your meter to the District.
With EyeOnWater, CCSD customers can now view their water use in 15-minute intervals, detect leaks quickly, set usage goals, and more—all from a smartphone or computer.
What EyeOnWater Will Let You Do:
- See Your Usage in Detail
View your water use by the hour, day, week, or month. Interactive graphs make it easy to spot patterns or high-use days. - Get Leak Alerts Instantly
Suppose EyeOnWater detects continuous or unusually high usage (like from a running toilet or broken irrigation line). In that case, you’ll get a text or email alert before it shows up on your bill. - Track Trends and Set Goals
Compare usage over time and set personal water use targets. You’ll get alerts when approaching or exceeding your goal, helping you avoid surprises and conserve more. - Access Anytime, Anywhere
Whether you're at home or away, you can check your water usage at any time via the mobile app or online portal.

Stuart Street Tank Project Update
Significant progress continues on the Stuart Street Tank Replacement Project as crews advance structural welding, manway installation, and pipe penetration work.
Structural Welding & Tank Assembly
- Completed welding of anchor bolt chairs around the tank’s exterior perimeter.
- Finished welding of the vertical and horizontal knuckle seams.
- Roof panels were tacked to the knuckle at the transition into the tank roof.
- Interior crews welded the horizontal seam between the knuckle and the top of Level 3 of the tank shell.
Manways & Access Openings
- The frame for Manway 1 has been fully welded to the tank shell.
- The second manway on the north side of the tank shell was cut and prepared.
- Its location was shifted in the field to match the centered placement of Manway 1, aligned between anchor bolts rather than offset as shown in the fabrication drawings.
- This revision will be captured in the as-built documentation.
Pipe Penetrations & Appurtenances
- Crosno cut the opening for the Inlet/Outlet (I/O) pipe, set at 8/16" above the tank floor, verified by MKN.
- Openings were also cut for the 4-inch drain line, sample port, and pressure transducer couplings.
- Crews began installation of the 4-inch drain line, including welding of the exterior flange.
Looking Ahead
Upcoming work will include continued roof panel welding, additional interior seam completion, and installation of remaining tank appurtenances.
There will be no work performed for the remainder of the Holiday week.

Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) Pilot Status
The new container-based processing pods have been successfully delivered and set up on-site. The project team has already produced an initial batch of “test” brine to evaluate system performance and confirm operational readiness. Preparations for full Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) testing are now underway, marking an important step forward in advancing the District’s water sustainability efforts.
